Kitchen cornice

Post by The Weegie »

Hi all,

I recently installed kitchen cupboards, I mitred the cornice for the bottom of the unit, and it was fine, however when I went to screw it on I noticed that when I brought the two bits together the cornicing at the back of the unit wasn't in line with the front of the unit. (I hope this makes sense?). I again made another cut but the same problem occured. Any ideas as to why this happened.

I used a mitre compound saw at exactly 45 Degrees

I have mitred plenty of other materials with no problems. Can't understand why this happened.

Any advice would be appreciated

If the cornice has 3 flats on the back, and you are mitreing with it on its back, then the mitre will be correct only if the flats are secured to the cupboards. The mitre has to be cut with the flat to be screwed to the cupboard flat in the saw, hope that makes sense.
