Ryobi 18V cordless Jigsaw drifting

Post by Hoovie »

Hi, invested in the Ryobi One+ cordelss system and got a question about the Jigsaw.

The cut tends to drift to the right and I am finding I am actually pointing the saw about 5 degrees to the left in order to get a straight cut.

Now the blade seems straight so don't think it is that. I find the saw seems to be a fair bit lower powered compared to a corded jigsaw but am trying to make sure I am not pushing to hard.

Cutting variety of stuff - Aquapanel, plus variety of Softwood battens upto 43mm square.

Any ideas or tips?

Hoovie.
:salute:
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

5% is quite a lot
mines [2 off] crab but only nearer 2deg
you get used to it

some times it can be the blade [try twisting the blade as you tighten the bar to locate the blade more centraly
what make of blades you using!!!!

the machine may cut better if you support the work more fully as the frequency of the cutting blade seems to be closely matched the resonance of the wood on occations

if your not happy check the clamp is out then you can send it back or for repair
we are all ------------------still learning

May be exaggerating (didn't measure it and my Mitres are normally off so not to good at degrees  )

some times it can be the blade [try twisting the blade as you tighten the bar to locate the blade more centrally I'll try that
what make of blades you using!!!! *think* they are bosch, but may be cheapies bought to rip wood and mixed up  - any recommedations on decent DIY level Blades (also got Bosch Green Corded)?

the machine may cut better if you support the work more fully as the frequency of the cutting blade seems to be closely matched the resonance of the wood on occations - ok. battens I clamp in a workstation and have about 2" protruding. the PB and AP just sit on top and sometimes clamp (depending on size) - I'll keep an eye on that

if your not happy check the clamp is out then you can send it back or for repair - probably more me then the tool
As usual, good advice - cheers, BA :thumbright:
