Kitchen Unit Spacing

Have never 'known' the actual recommended space between units if placed in a 'Galley Style'.

Also If an Island is used for the Hob and oven what would the norm space be between the Island and the Wall Units, is there a 'rule'?

ah ha sk2 means "galley" as in kitchen in a boat, very small and often very narrow

an observation rather than specific answer would be that when two opposing doors (one one either side of the space) are open they do not clash

on the question of space between an island and the rest of the kitchen again an observation rather than specific answer, enough for two people to pass which suggests around 3 feet, certainly no less than 900 for comfort.

but the two questions together in the same topic says the kitchen isnt big enough to swing a cat it

that is of course another nautical expression (cat-o-nine tails)

I said Galley? :scratch:

And in saying it I didn't mean small like in a boat I meant Galley as in the style like in a boat, lets say its a BIG, BIG boat!

The room the kitchen is going into is 4170 x 5329, but we'd like a dinning area and a lounge area. So I want to fit the kitchen into the most effective use of the space, that would be better achieved if I had guide lines to work to instead of just letting it spread about the cavernous area and making do with what we've got left for dinning and lounging in.

We have, to give you a perspective of the room available, each taken a cat and swung them at the same time, they never met in mid swing. :-)

just prooves my dislexia on galley / gallery

thats a big kitchen, its probably bigger than some ships

did al and dennis complain when you swung them

That was Stanley an Russell, but no, no complaints, problem is it's become a regular thing now.

About the spacing is there a specification, from kitchen fitters, yes I know but they must work to at least 1 specification?
