Wireless Network Switching devices

Post by shamus »

This is a bit of a long shot, but it is theoretically possible.

My house doorbell has just packed up and i don't want to mess about wiring in a new one.

I have just installed a hard wire network into my garage (some 20mts away from the house). This works fine, and i have wireless capability via a network switch.
Is it possible to have a (or more) network capable bell ringer(s) that can be activated from remote switches that are connected to the network. The network is always on, although the computers may not be.

This is effectively the same as having IP cameras, except that the switches will activate the doorbell(s) via the network.

Has anyone got any ideas on this, or can they direct me to a website that could help?

Thanks
