Cupboard Height Fxiings

While I still have the room as a carcass I would like to put some 4x2 noggings across the height where the fixings would go for the cupboards so when I eventually put them in I will have a 4" leeway with the screws.
Question is - what measurement shall I put them in?

height will be decided by the tower unit if you have one
or decide a suitable height for the people using them this may include clearance under extractor hoods and recommended clearance between hob and unit etc
joiner john beat me to it

i usually go 870mm for the base then 1222 from the base to the top of the wall unit iirc the screw holes on howdens units are 50mm down =2050 ish so id prob go 2150 to the top of the 4x2

I havent got the units yet (miles away from buying them yet). I was just trying to plan a bit of forethought into things so there isnt a thread called 'How can I fit kitchen cupboards because the fixings are missing the studs!"
The heights of the rooms are only 2400. Speed - got those measurements written down now - are they gospel?

other options is to use 12mm ply in place off plasterboard in the area covered by the cabinets
or use cabinet hanging rail the full length off the wall units fixed to the studs

It is what suits you, Northwales.........................I set top of worktop at 910mm then top of worktop to underside of wall unit 480mm. That isn't set in stone, though and may be different for certain kitchens.

Hell of a question..
A lot depends on the units you buy.. some are 2125 from finished floor level then others will vary.. as ROC said base unit heights will vary slightly .. I personally think the biggest problem you may come across is the variety of different ways of hanging the wall units ie what hangers they use .. some brackets are set 115mm to the bottom of the bracket from the top position of the wall units others are merely 50mm and there are various in between..
I would suggest that you look for a kitchen unit you like first then get the technical spec for the units .. plain sailing after that. I personally think Big Al has the most sensible suggestion with the plywood replacing plasterboard.. make it 300mm high the length of the wall at roughly 2150 from floor level and you cant go wrong.
I have recently fitted a handmade kitchen that had no hangers , just a strip of wood across the back inside to put some screws through.
hope this help

cheers for the info - given me a lot to think about. I know what you mean about the different places where the fixings are (thats why I asked) because I chucked a cheap Wikes kitchen in here and the 400mm cupboards have the bracket that you screw to the wall first and then hook the cupboard onto it but the 1000mm cupboards just screw straight through the carcass onto the wall
