tile grout Question

Hi all
I had me bathroom tile lately i got out the bath today put my hand on the wall to steady myself and two minute later the grout looked wet cause the part i had touched was a little darker than the part i didn't touch . 1/2 an hour later it was dry. same colour as the rest of the grout

Will i need to seal this grout before i start to use the power shower. showering under the power shower is like showering a water fall i used Wicks Floor & Wall tile Grout the one u mix and it says on the package Water dunno: Resistant

Another question is water proof and water resistant, different things

Firstly it's normal for all grouts to 'discolour' when wet, grouts are water resistant not water proof (unless it's an epoxy grout), this means water will travel through but at a decreased rate. In normal use only small amounts of moisture will get through to the substrate

Secondly, Wickes grout is a fairly poor choice of grout. Different brands of grout have different resistance to water penetration. That's not to say the Wickes grout won't do its job, it just won't do it as effectively and won't last as long as say another branded grout.

Most quality brands of grout would not discolour after resting a wet hand on for just a few seconds and if it did, it would return to a dry state within minutes rather the half an hour. You can seal the grout with various types and brands of grout sealer. I would advise looking at either the HG or LTP brands for this

You said the bathroom was done lately.............Some grouts need to cure for 7 days before you can use a shower and some are as much as 14 days........just in case lately is 2 days ago!

the bathroom has been done for a fortnight now so no problems there cheers

I meant to ask yesterday will the tile sealer attack the sealer between the bath and the tiles ?
