Fixing Solid Wood Worktops end to end

Post by joinerjohn »

As the title says really. How do you guys fit wooden worktops end to end? I have a kitchen coming up that requires a worktop length of 3.8m and the customer has already got the worktops (just over 3m in length) I'm thinking of using a couple of dogbones and some biscuits. (worktops will have to be cut down to about 340mm wide as their going on top of wall units used as base units)

Cheers JJ

Cheers Speed. Although I have fitted solid wood w/tops before. this is the first instance in many years that I will have to join them end to end. I'm going to select the worktops so the staves/grain is as close a match as I can get. I know it will alway be noticeable, but will do my best. :salute:

PS would you use any glue on the joint? I was thinking of using just PVA, (or even the hard oil on each end just before joining) but will accept any advice.
