and a most recently found (as in "I just found this tool and never knew I even had on")
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I loose tools all the time, well I don't loose them I lend them out and forget who I lent them to.

Then in five years I will remember and ask for it back and the person I lent it to thinks that it is theirs because they have had it so long :angryfire:

Because I don't do jobs for anyone they usally ask me and I normally say " I can lend you the tools and you can do it yourself". My scaffold tower and cement mixer are hardly ever in my possession

An engineering manager of mine got the hump when I wouldnt lend him some allen keys and a couple of spanners. I jokingly suggested he give me a £50 deposit so I could replace them when he forgets to give them back. He refused that offer so I stood by my decision. He said you are being rediculous, I said, I have offered to do the job, you are not borrowing my tools. He still had a shitty on about it. I said take it to personnel, see what they say.

I was summoned to personnel, why wont you lend ** your tools, because he has a habit of not returning them, and denies ever having borrowed them when you ask for them back, I asked for a £50 deposit for the replacement costs of the tools, he refused, I offered to do the job, he didnt want me to do it. What should I do.

We think you should let him borrow your tools. Ok, can I make him sign for them? No thats not really fair, he only wants to borrow them.

Borrowing implys returning, borrowing without returning is theft, should I raise a greivance against ** everytime he steals peoples tools.

Im getting bored now, but you get the gist, he didnt borrow my tools, and personnel advised him not to ask again.

I tend to lose clothing! Had a tendency to visit potential customers, have a meeting and then leave a coat or similar behind - sometimes realise in time, other times it has meant a special journey back :cussing:

When somebody ask me for a loaner, the stock response is

"Sorry but no. I once lost a grand piano that way"

Tends to shut them up whilst they figure it out.
Nothing you do is a waste of time - especially if it can be used as a bad example by others...
