removing a line of tiles?

Post by guyfawkes »

Hi

I have a line of mosaic tiles running round my bathroom, inset between sqaure tiles and an edging tile. I would like to remove the mosaics and replace with some of a different colour. Is it possible to do that without it being a complete nightmare?

Thanks

If you've got a multi-tool with a riff blade. a steady hand and plenty of patience it's do-able. You also want to make sure the tiles you replace them with aren't thicker than the wall tiles or it'll look shite. Also, if they're much thinner then it's very fiddly.

Another tip Guy stay well away from explosives or you might just remove more than you planned.

But it so much more fun that way......

Thanks for the replies - I have started to remove them and they are coming off ok - except in a couple of areas the plaster underneath has come away with the tile - is this a prob? Can I just put the new adhesive straight onto the plasterboard? :dunno:
In one area it has left quite a dint in the wall and it moves if I press on it :-/ should I fill that in with polyfilla or something? Or is that a ridiculous suggestion???

Obviously this is all abit new to me!
Thanks
