Hi guys,
a couple of years ago i invested in a good worktop jig n router and since then have fitted quite a few worktops, however, on a few occasions i get the old problem of a cupped worktop which without changing the top causes the obvious joint problems. knowing there is no way im gonna straighten one of these i've allways kept the surface joint at the front and center flush leaving a slight mismatch at the back so that it is not noticed as much.( i allways explain to the customer what the options are before continuing) my question is to any kitchen fitters or carpenters as to any tricks of the trade i have'nt thought of. any ideas appreciated.

Thanks.

its a bi@tch when you get a bowed top

if you have a open end biscuits can help or if you can pull the worktop away from the wall set the first 2 bolts up flush then slowly clamp the back edge together and nip up the last bolt

i generally lift the top up at one end to relive the bow at the joint. do the joint with a good glue and the next day take the support out and fix them down. nearly always the bow is in the cheeper tops, dont get them in the duropal range.
so next one pre warn the cust that the joint wont be how it should because the tops are rubbish.
