adhesive not drying

Post by jayj »

hi i started tiling over a week ago and the adhesive is still not dry i have used tubbed addy as the are only 15x15 cm ceramic tiles, i have removed 1 lot of tiles of 1 wall as worried they might fall off, or when i come to grout it might not dry, should i remove the rest and start again what adhesive would anyone suggest
thanks

how thick are you applying the adhesive? Ready mixed is only designed to go to about 3mm as it sets by dispersion

Cement based adhesive is a much better choice

TBH everbuild is a c*ap addy, the bucket it comes in is worth more than the contents IMO.

If i was you i'd remove the tiles now while you still have a good chance of cleaning them without too much hassle and then starting again. With a cement based addy, flexible cement based one at that if you can.

It will dry given enough time but that could be days/weeks/months. think of it like this. The addy comes wet in a sealed container, once the crust of the addy dries on the wall it then creates another 'container'

I use Nicobond adhesives but Bal or Marpei are just as good and all are readily available.
