Hi,

I need to extend the line linking the microphone and my computer so that I can record sound from distance.
However, where to get such a extention line?
Or, any other idea?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Than sounds good....
Do I need batteries in the wireless microphone? And is that can be used to connect a computer?

Really depends what kind of connection your mic is and how far you want to go.

You will be able to get a wireless microphone pretty cheap. I think mine was less than a fiver from the markets (and this was a while ago) and you can use it on your stereo too for karaokes.

When we tried karaoke at home, we tried a cheap wireless mic, it needed 2x AA batteries, plus its adapter into the mic socket had one, range good only for the room we were in, otherwise your into stage pro jobs and no idea on them.

What is the distance that you need, and is it in the same room as your computer? Please explain more details then you can be better advised what might be best.

What is it that you will be doing with the mic, singing and recording or is it just for speech on the internet?

Forget cheap wireless mikes as that is just what they are, cheap.

Come back with some answers and you may get some advice that works, but an extension lead is going to be the cheapest and best sound quality solution for you.

If you are not sure what to do, take your mic to Maplins or PC World or other computer/electronics outlet and ask for an extension lead to fit the plug on the mic and tell them how long you want it.

Thank you dave.m.

That is in my flat, distance between the microphone and my computer is about 11 meters.

I moved in this flat recently and found the pipes are very noisy! Someone came to check it for me, but there was no noise at all when he came to my flat and he said he cannot do anything without hearing the noise. The noise hapened randomly...sometimes wakes me up at very early.

I need it to record the noise and ask him come to listen the record in my computer!

Take your mic to Maplins or PC World or other computer/electronics outlet and ask for an extension lead to fit the plug on the mic and tell them you want a 10 meter extension lead.

Wireless aint gonna be an option if you're recording all night long, the battery only last a 4-5 hours max in my experience on the shure and akg mics, no idea what cheap ones would be like but my guess is not great.

You'll be lucky to get anything even half clear through a cheap mic, especially with a massive extension, could you not move your pc closer to the source for a night? I have my doubts about you capturing some clanky pipes with a standard PC mic but we shall see.
