Laptop help

Was wondering if anyone could share some light on a problem I have with an Advent laptop. While using it and it being on charge, my dog decided to bite into the charger. The laptop was on and working fine till the battery went flat, so I ordered a replacement charger, when it came and plugged in to the laptop there's no charge. All though the I know the charger works as I have tested it. Have taken the laptop case off to look for anything simple to the untrained eye but can't see anything. A friend mentioned blowing the motherboard but surely that would of caused the laptop to go off straight away? Any help would be great.

the pull on the charger could have seperated the contact to the psu but i dont believe this is a very easy problem to remedy is the laptop still under warranty?

Thanks for the reply, will have to check the psu contact, no the warranty has expired and like most things decided not to renew it as thought nothing ever happens to it!

Yep sounds like it may have broken the power jack solder contact on the motherboard.
What is the exact model of the Advent?

Thats a pretty easy fix if you know how to solder, and one of the most common faults with laptops.
If it's not that try disconnecting the charger + battery and holding the power button in for 30 seconds. And turning it on with the charger without the battery, 2 of the first things to try if it's not powering on, never worked for me but it's one of those things in every "laptop repair guide" i've ever read.

Thanks for the replys guy's, haven't had chance to look yet at the laptop to check, have done a bit of soldering before so if it's that will be happy. Not sure what Advent it is off the top of my head, so when I get home will look and try and post the laptop details then.
