Wireless problems

Post by Cannyfixit »

Last week I had no internet on mrs canny's laptop she always uses the wireless connection, anyway I connected to the modem via the RG45 cable and the internet came on,I discovered the Virginmedia connection was missing but by connecting via the cable it re appeared, now if i leave the laptop alone it will eventuly come on but theres no pattern to how long she has to wait minutes to hours in some cases
eg booted this morning at 09.06 its now 09.27 still nothing
my laptop is not being affected

her laptop spec is
Toshiba Equium A100 - 027
Windows Vista home premium 32bit
Intel 1.6GHz
1gb ram
ISP - Virgin media 10meg connection

so what have i tried so far

the only thing i thought could be affecting it is our AV was changed from Bulldog to Panda,
i have disabled panda via the settings it made no difference
i tried to disable it via msconfig but panda over rides this
System restore wont work, tried three different restore points
ran CCleaner
installed 18 windows updates however like system restore these failed also
I intended to remove panda however i get this message
"some of your system files are in quarrentine if you uninstall the application you will not be able to recover them"
can i still go ahead and remove panda

Windows Zero Configuration (wi-fi) utility is often the cause of intermittent loss of wi-fi connection. Use Windows help to find it and disable it.
Don't take it personally......
