factory settings

Post by Alice »

Hello to anyone who can help

im running windows xp home edidion 2002 service pack 3

i would like to go back to factory settings..... this i have done twice before so i know how long it takes,

But as i am on the service pack 3, when i take it back to factory settings will i get this update back again.

The reason i want to do this is that is i have not been running an antivirus as my pc because it is so slow. And it will be full of virisus i know

but i am thinking once it has a good clean i will get back one of the lighter free anti virusis as this is only a 32 bit too

i hope this makes sense ,as im still a pc learner,
thankyou Aileen,

You will be offered all the updates and the Service Pack 3 when you revert to Factory settings. Try and put SP3 on first after you have gone back. Then let it check for updates and there may not be too many!

Then install Microsoft Security Essentials. It will NOT slow down your computer but will protect it better than not having any antivirus at all.

Cheers for the reply dave,
i did try the (mse) before and had nothing but problems.
But as long as i know i can get the update's   back then im going to take it back to factory settings.

I just wanted a pro! like yourself for that bit of confidence :-) as i thought all updates for an old pc like mine would be obsolete.

So i guess most of them will be in the service pagk 3.

Hope you are keeping well and best wishes dave
Aileen
