FESTOOL OF2200 Set (inc fence etc)

Post by jonnyashworth »

I have been using this router alongside my trusty Dewalt DW625 for about 3 years now and must say it is in a totally different league to the Dewalt. The fence adjustment and depth adjustment are far more refined (accurate to 0.1mm) and the power is incredible. When it comes to dust extraction again the festool is easilly the best on the market with the trigger releaseable dust guard you can feed the cutter in accurately then release the guard and hey presto no dust can escape the router. On the other hand the router alone costs £708 and for that you dont even get a fence, that is part of the extras systainer for which you will pay £270 taking the total cost a shade under £1000. With the dewalt DW625k on the market for about £220 you would have to be mad to fork out for the festool (I was lucky and got my set for £65 in an administration sale).

The bottom line is ...... Like all Festool tools it is beautifully engineered, accurate to within 1:1000000000 of a nats b@ll@ck, healthier to use that a cross trainer but hugely expencieve and every extra feature it is advertised as being able to perform requires another hugely expencive optional extra.
