Hi can anyone advise me please I have sony bravia kdl32u3000, it is just out of warranty, basically I have 2 Tvs in the house and the other is working fine so I think it wont be roof aerial I also have booster in the loft, what happens is it goes fine for a few days and then I will turn on and eg 3 4 5 6 are missing later in the day they come back and 10 11 12 will be missing, doing an auto reset doesnt help it goes throught the steps finds the channels and then says you have 80 digital and 5 analogue then a page comes up saying no service on almost a ll channels, this problem doesnt seem to affect bbc 1 2 and rolling news bbc, have spoken to sony and they cant help just say do reset, my question is, could it be that I need to change aerial cable or might it be a tv problem or an aerial problem on limited budget right now so trying to figure out what it might be and if I have to call someone if it should be aerial or tv man.. any advice appreciated.. when channels come on tv works perfectly.. we have switchover in our area next year . sony said that might be a problem but switchover people say not, only other problem is horizontal lines break up which also happens sometimes on other tv.. although othe rchannels get affected it is usually 3 4 5 6 10... hope you can advise me,, thanks

TV reception can be affected by the weather. Sounds like your antenna is dodgy to me. Swap the TV locations and see if the same happens.

Thanks.

Since I have had it picture does break up when it rains .

Oh just thought of something that may be relevant, when I lost my ITV I went to my neighbour and told him and asked him if he had it, lo and behold he had lost it too and when mine came back 2 days later his did too...

This is just losing channels.
Forgot to mention , if I leave it on 3 for example it will say , this station not tuned and if I just leave it there after 5 or 10 minutes it will come on screen.
Can I ask if it is the antenna would it not affect my other tv.
this one is in and has always been in a cabinet and has a sony theatre/dvd player/speakers plugged in to it.
would a faulty aerial cable be the problem I could take one from the other tv and try but then when I have the channels it is a great picture.
Do you think I should call (a) aerial man, (b) tv repair man (c) sony (d) take back to shop and see if they will change it, it is about 18 months old , bought from Sainsburys.

The sensitivity of a TV to signals can vary between manufacturers - in theory it can also vary between identical models. If you are still using the same antenna as you used before the switch-over then this may be the root cause. There is no get-around to the problem. A decent antenna (with a good cable) is the ONLY way to get a good picture.

Thing about digital signals is that they are either 'good' or they are 'cr@p' - there is no half measure as you'd get with the old analog signal - most people with poor signals in an analog system used to put up with, or not even notice, the 'snow' on the screen. You could still see a picture. With digital systems you might get 'breakup' or 'freezing' of the picture but often it's a 'there/not there' situation.

Get a new antenna and all will be well again.

I had a similar situation which turned out to be a dodgy connection i the fly lead (From wall socket to aerial socket on tv.) replaced the lead and it was fine.

I'm also in a poor reception area for terrestrial but one improvement I made was to change from the old style brown antenna wire (air gap type with stocking net screen) to the double screened foil type as used by cable companies (lucky it did not cost me, got left a good few mtrs during the last cable box installation).

they may be working at the transmitter in preperation for changeover this will be more obvious if the signal loss is between 8am-6pm they often reduce the signal strength when working
as said above different tvs/digi boxes will give different responces in different rooms
also channels are in groups so the tendancy is to have trouble on a whole group of say 4 or 5 channels or good reception on that group
what transmitter are you under ??
