Received four phone calls off this company today , wanting to claim back PPI payments i might have made over the last two years . I,ve never had a loan, or credit card for at least 8 yrs + never took out the payment protection insurance. finally told the last person where to go + asked to be taken off their call list . Is there anyway to stop cold calling from these companies ?

I think all phone companies can register you on the Telephone Preference Service as it is independent. Try this better link

I'm on TPS so if I get a call and I have the time I play them along. They deserve it.
Last call I got was from a company touting for accidents.
Tout: I'm calling about your recent accident...
Stoday: Oh yes, I had a bad accident when I was in hospital, how did you know about that?
T: (smelling juicy case against the NHS) We need the details...
S: Spins the story out as long as he can. Eventually, it dawns on T that S's accident is when he accidently sh*t the bed in hospital.

I'm in a similar position to 8ball and have never had a loan or PPI, yet I keep getting phone calls from these parasites and also the parasites that ring to see if you have ever had an accident.
The really annoying thing is that we are Ex directory
I'll be sure to check out the link that DWD posted as we are with BT

I must say that I have been registered with TPS for over 12 years and I rarely get any cold calls. The only people that can contact me are Sky, Lloyds and British Gas as I am a customer. Sky and BG do not ring now after I asked them to delete me from telephone canvassing but I left Lloyds alone in case it messed with security intervention phone calls.
Register with TPS now, it works.

Whilst you are all registering with TPS why not register with the
Mailing Preference Service and stop most of the junk mail too. It does not stop the shop fliers that the postman brings but it stops most of the 'posted' junk mail.
It may save a few trees too for the 'tree huggers society'.
