Please help current brick shell bathroom, going to tile half way up the walls (all the way up in shower area) and floor, joists exposed, usual ceramic tiles.

There is no definitive answers to these question ive looked, is there no book on all this?

Questions:

1) Floor going to use 25mb WRB ply do I tank?
2) Do i skim the walls or use Knauf Aquaboard (AB) on batons (as you cant dot and dab it) all the way up? This is going to increase the thickness of the walls considerably, and put the architrave etc out of whack
3) I was going to AB in the shower area walls and ceiling.

dot and dab mR plasterboard all round and dont skim it!
do the floor first 25mm wbp ply will be fine, just prime it with a decent primer all round before laying, I dont see the need to tank the floor unless its a wetroom?! then just tank the wall area round the shower cubicle (taking it about a foot beyond)..

1) No need to tank it, from the post title it isn't a wet room.

2) Use normal plasterboard dot and dabbed then taped and jointed.

3) You can use normal plasterboard for the shower wall and also have the option to tank them. MR plasterboard for the ceiling and this will need to be taped and jointed.

also I was told you cat dot and dab in a moisture area??

mr = moisture resistant.

Depends what your advisor is terming as a moisture area! Externally, no.

Internally in a bathroom or shower room then yes. I doubt if developers up and down this country and various continents are wrong about using the method in bath and shower rooms.
