Shower renovation - next steps

Hi,

Following the helpful suggestions to my post (shower-renovation-t52061.html) I have stripped my wall back to the 2 studded walls and 1 bare concrete wall.

Once I had removed the shower tray and supporting beams I will prepare the shower area. I intend to do as follows:

· Stud walls – install aquapanel.

· Concrete wall – use BAL quickset render to true up the wall where I was a little overenthusiastic with the chipping hammer and remove the remaining areas of adhesive.

· Tank the whole area with BAL WP1, tape, matting etc

· Tile

I have read so many conflicting posts on use / don’t use aquapanel, do/don’t tank etc which sometime seems a little academic. Please can someone sense check this approach for me before I begin. I would rather pay a bit more and do a bit more to make sure this is done properly as this is my first project of this size!

Thanks in advance.

I'm in the middle of doing a bathroom and I used moisture resistant plasterboard that you can tile right onto, then I tanked it.

Tile backer boards such as aquapanel often work out very expensive and if you are tanking they are not always necessary as nothing should get through the tanking!

i'll be observing your progress with interest as i'm doing a similar ensuite renovation. I was only going to use backerboard for mine though no tanking, are you doing a wet room?

Looking at your pics, you won't have enough room to dot/dab mr plasterboard,...

So yes inside the enclosure...a sheet off aquapanel follow mfr inst. and bal QSR will do the job, rest off bathroom m.r plasterboard.
