Over tha past couple of weeks I have been unable to watch videos on my laptop.

If I try and watch You Tube videos or the football on the internet. It just constantly stops and then plays for a couple of seconds and then stops. I have used my anti virus and malware to do a scan but it hasn't changed. :dunno:

Any ideas????

My internet connection has always been poor. However when I am moving between internet sites the speed is okay. It only seems to be with videos.

Internet videos rely on 'streaming' to buffer a suitable amount of data to enable a continuous video to play without interruption. Sometimes they 'assume' everyone's connection can manage xxMb/sec so configure their streaming to fit - obviously if you aren't getting anywhere near xxMb/sec your video is going to stumble.

You should be aware that time-of-day plays a huge part in download speeds - mine varies from 1Mb/sec to 5Mb/sec depending on time of day (kids off school, business days etc) and video performance suffers accordingly.

Using speedtest.net you can monitor your speeds over a few days (say every four hours) to see when the bottle neck is and, if your speed doesn't seem reasonable then you could even contact your provider to see what can be done.

My connection 'stuck' on under 1Mb/sec for a few days so I called then and they did a 'line reset' which upped the speed considerably. It was BT and I had to deal with an Indian callcentre but credit due, they said they'd fix it and they did.

Could tracking cookies be causing your computer to slow down. I have found that my pc will slow down the longer I am on the internet (as the cookie list grows) - if I am online surfing then after a length of time the computer can virtually freeze up. I am told that this can be caused by the tracking cookies running in the background. I've found that if I run CCleaner when this occurs with only three preferences checked (Temporary Internet files, temporary files and cookies) the speed usually resumes.

Just a thought...
