Roofing advice (Bracing for trusses)

Post by inkydolphin »

Hi - I'd be grateful for any advice anyone can offer.

The survey report on the house I'm buying says that the trusses in the roof are poorly braced and therefore more susceptible to movement during high winds, and that the end trusses are not properly secured to walls.

Does anyone know how much of a problem this is, and how much it may cost (ballpark) to put right?

Thanks
Kev

normally you just need to put some 4x1 from bottom corner to top middle and then down to the other corner on both sides nailed into each rafter.
then just tie the end trusses to the walls with something like 900mm steel L brackets.
it was about 5 years when i last did this as a job and would have charged about £250
