Glued only is fine
To remove the glue, you could also try one of these - they are great at removing all sorts of 'stuff' sticking out
Heavy-Duty Scraper

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?"
She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I recently had to fix skirting to walls as bent as a 9 pound note and was equally as worried that the grab adhesive wouldn't be strong enough
However as long as you brace the skirting in place (thanks again Hoovie!)until the glue fully dries it will be rock solid
The glue I used was "Sticks like sh!t" from Screwfix - I don't know if it's the best one out there, but it says "Trade Only" on the container which is good enough for a beginner at DIY like me and convinced the boss that I knew what I was doing

Hi
Yes i agree with Wood Maggot oops
Hammer and chisel
One other thing dont hammer the nails out as this will probably splinter the face of the skirting try and pull then all the way through probably splinter on the back but will leave the filler and paint in tact on the face side
Sorry Wood Magnet couldn't resist
