Credit card rip off

Post by ultimatehandyman »

I have had a MBNA credit card for a long time (probably 20 years), they gave me a generous limit and I have used it regularly but always paid off the full amount of each month. Recently I have not seen the card as my other half has been custodian of it and has been hitting the shops really hard on occasions.

To save the environment I switched from paper statements to email statements, but the problem is that I often get 50+ emails per day and so I do often forget about the email as I normally have more important things to sort out. Last month this happened and I forgot to pay the previous months statement, this only became apparent when other half went to pay for something and could not

When I logged into my account I could see that I had not paid the last statement and so MBNA put a stop on the card and then charged me £12 late fee and £12.58 interest :angryfire:

The annoying thing is that they don't send you a reminder email and they don't send a reminder text, they just stop the account and charge you the late fee and extortionate interest ::b

I have made certain that this will never happen again as I have cut the credit card up and disposed of it. I have also switched my account back so that I get a paper statement each month

BMIbaby has just charged me £22 'admin fee' to use my Maestro card when booking some flights - there is no other way to pay so you're stuck with it. They're all a set of robbing tw*ts.
