sealing around bath

Post by logoman »

The tiler is used has left the seal around the bath like this.

I have sealed the stone and grout, but I thing I should seal his edge, as bits of the grout are falling off.
what sealant should i use? my first thought would be clear silicone, but I've had problems removing it in the past after black spots had formed on it.

cheers,
Miles

Either do as inspire has said, or use an over tile bath seal for extra protection, would probably set you back a fiver to do the whole lot and looks a fair bit nicer than the blob of sillycone :)

Judging by that tiny cut in the corner he wasn't a tiler
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work

sad indeed, shame as they look like nice tiles.

I agree, i was very annoyed as the stone tiles were very expensive. there is another line of thin tiles at the other end of the wall - he spaced the tiles so that the shower controls and shower head were centred between tiles a - which looks nice, but causes these problems. what was the alternative?

As a rule tiles should be laid from the wall outwards, having cuts on the outside edge with a tile trim. Just looks more aesthetically pleasing.

It's entirely up to your choice which end you'd prefer the cuts at, as it looks like it was unavoidable to have a small bit left over.

sounds like he's laid them much like you would a floor tile.

Cheers,
