I've been impressed with my 12v drills/driver, so went Makita again for this SDS. DIY use, not trade, but it's done all I've needed and better than I thought - so so much quicker than my old hammer drill!

I've used these in trade situations - mainly 1st fix - and I can attest to their power and durability. Well up to the standard of the equivalent Bosch blue IMHO

good to know - can't say I'll give it quite that much thrash, but I'd prefer to have some headroom!

yes its true the price is good for what it is but,
i've used both and for me the Bosch gbh2-26dre is the one to watch as far as these go.
and the bosch isn't that much more expensive ...just my opinion

One of the cheapest GBH2-26DREs I've come across recently was at Here (£142), although I have seen them down to £132. I make that 32% more expensive than the Makita at £100 - or £32.in real terms........

I think if you want to compare like with like the HR2470 is actually nearer to the Bosch GBH2400 in both price and spec. with the Bosch being slightly more powerful and slightly heavier. What I do know is that the Makita is a tough tool capable of putting up with the sort of abuse meted out on a building site - probably one of the reasons so many hire firms offer them. In terms of "feel" the GBH2400 has it for me, but I know others who rate the Makita as having better balance

I am, incidentally, a Bosch user - so no bias on my part.......
