Had this a few months now. Although it's not received exhaustive professional use i feel i have used it enough to offer my opinions on the product.
It's a very good saw, i bought it because the glide arm seems to offer what no other saw could. That being, the cutting capacities of a 12" saw with the accuracy of a 10". It does this, don't get me wrong you can't just slam the thing down on to your work and expect a perfect cut (not that you would with any saw, no matter its size), but with care and a gentle touch (i've adopted the technique of using the handle to guide the blade whilst putting as little weight on it as possible), there's no detectable deflection.
As for all other areas, i won't bother going in to chapter and verse, but it is very good all round as you would expect for an £800 saw.

What about weight and portability? Very important for me as a tradesman

It is a heavy beast and not the easiest to lug around. If you couple it with the GTA2500 it is fine, but you'll need a big van as the whole setup takes a lot of space.
Yes it trenches, used this function on quite a few projects and it does it very nicely.
