Just an unforseen update on my previous post about the scanner not working on my HP 8180.

Had to wipe PC yesterday and re-install from scratch. Thought I had a problem with my gas certificate software not working.

After installing everything the bloody scanner now works perfectly :dunno: :cussing: :lol:

Strange how it wouldn't work on any computer in my home before.

And after going through this nightmare re-installation again, the software still didn't work, even after talking to the software writers.

Got another email from them today saying that the fault was in their software and not my PC ::b :cb

My mate had problems with his PC and had some stupid software that needed a 2 hour phone call each time it went wrong to generate new installation keys. They would literally GRILL you over the phone like you were trying to steal it and put it on another computer. Crazy.

Got fed up of this and when I had to sort it for him, I installed it on a Virtual PC and set the backups to go to the server. If it ever went wrong, mount the virtual HDD, get the files needed, copy and paste and it was working again. Worked ever since....

that was about 2k's worth of software too...shocking!
