Wet Rooms - Pros & Cons Please

This is not really a DIY query but related to buying a property with a wet room - no specific properties in mind but as I've started to look, I've noticed that there are a fair number that offer wet rooms.
I'd like to know if wet rooms have a higher than normal problem list than say compared with an fitted shower cubicle, are there specific things to look out for & how can you see whether a good job has been done as opposed to a poor job?
My main requirement is to look to the future when I get really old & can't get in/out of a bath easily & so I veer more toward fitted showers or good shower over a P/D bath.
Some properties I've seen on the net look very good & then I see they've got an actual wet room & while they look neat & will probably deal with my future needs I realised that I know nothing at all about whether they're a good idea or not - hence the question.
TIA.
