Anyone got an idea whether it's a decent enough printer, just need a workhorse which does decent graphics and text, photos I couldn't care less about.
Speed isn't an issue either I can leave big print jobs on overnight, toner seems cheap at £33 for a replacement high capacity set on ebay.

The quality on 90 and 160gsm paper is my main concern. I don't use the cheapy 80gsm copier paper as it doesn't ever produce a decent result.

Any owners care to comment? For under £60 it seems like a bargain for a home printer.

I had a dell printer last year and the quality was quite rubbish to be honest. For good quality pictures i would go for a Kodak or an Epson. In my opinion Kodaks make some good quality images especially on good quality paper.

IIRC Dell printers are just re badged Lexmark's.

I put a 1320c in for someone about 2 years ago now and I haven't had to go back to it. It hasn't been hammered constantly but has been in regular use in a business environment.

DIY Pro, like I say I'm not fussed about pictures, mainly graphics (charts, basic rendered images and line drawings) and text, plus a lot of sheet music.It's more cost effective to send out photographic prints after the cost of ink/ toner and paper, although I will agree, design department have a uber high end epson which prints incredible photographs.

I have a Mono HP....I saved it from the skip when I went to clear a site for a company I worked for about 3-4 years back now. Bought a compatible toner from eBay for £15 or so and it has been running sweet as a nut since on the same toner

Any colour work I need to do I take to work and start early or finish a bit later

I have a Dell 1350 which is identical to your for accessories. The reason I bought it was the size. Much smaller than my previous one Dell 3000 which was a huge laser printer.

I wish I'd stayed with my old one.

Reasons: it maybe smaller, that's the only good thing. However, the 1250/1350 is a huge ink eater. Each colour is separate, not like my old one where I replaced just ONE cartridge. I get my toners on eBay as well but when you're talking £30 odd pounds for each colour (and they do not ALL run out at once) it's mega pounds.

That's just my opinion. Hope it helps.

I did similar, my last printer fell off the back of an IT department at college
It was brand new just without a toner, basically being kept as a backup unit and they had 5 of them. £20 later I had a £200 printer, it eventually went wrong though. Baring in mind I used to print band flyers and stuff on it, probably put 50k sheets through it using cheap crappy toners off ebay.

Ended up binning it, plus it was only mono. Colour is always infinitely more useful.

I got a Canon iX5000 A3 colour inkjet from freecycle for the cost of fuel, then realised it wouldn't print A3....got it apart finally (fscking clips everywhere...whats wrong with screws) with some help from a mate, who has recently taken the hump for some reason
Turned out large lump of bluetack stuck in the rollers, pulled it out...printed A3 etc no problem, got 4 sets of cartridges for <20 notes from fleabay and they last AGES especially compared with the epson that now never gets used, plus its WAY faster and quieter, especially for A4 stuff. Had it for months and only now am I having to change any cartridges

Cheaper to buy two than to buy new toner, apparently!

Are the toners 'full' - it's common practice for them to fit only part-filled cartridges in the hope you buy a new one shortly thereafter and end up paying well OTT for it.

Probably for genuine toners, they're not half filled just standard capacity in the stock unit, a full set of high capacity genuine toners off the bay is £32 though.
You've got to be mental to buy genuine toners, they're so expensive and not much better.
