Help Inatalling a Shower tray

Need help replacing a shower tray.

removed the bottom tiles and this is what I'm left with.

is that plasterboard?

can i use Aquapanel or Hardibacker Board?

Does look like there was plasterboard there... not much left now though...

Best option? rip it all out and start again in my opinion, any repair will be a bodge...
