Fresh Air flavour seems popular
Why is it every manufacturer of crisps sells you a half-empty packet these days? Is it a health thing or is this just another wonderful way of selling you nothing for something?

Have you just brought a packet of Walkers crinkle cut crisps?
They were on TV recently, (something like) "The reason is there is more space in the bag to prevent crushing of the snack within"
The average was 12 whole crisps

I find it worse when they surround some decent air by mint. I'm forever throwing the mint away just to get at the hole.
Don't take it personally......

All the multipacks and special offers actually have considerably less crisps in the pkt than the normal ones, by as much as a 1/3rd less.
Other products are the same if you check them out and weight for weight can work out dearer than the normal price.

Many years, ago for a laugh, I sent a packet of crisps back to 'Smiths Crisps' because there were only about six in the packet. They sent me a Postal Order for half a crown (12.5 pence) as compensation!..

'We' actually have what it takes to change the situation (buying - or NOT buying - power) but sadly we also have a huge case of apathy in this country. We're being fcuked over by all sorts of things, banks, power companies, supermarkets, insurance etc etc and 'we' let it happen. If 'we' can't get irate enough to stop THOSE kind of p1sstakes then the crisp issue hasn't got a chance......

That's spooky. Spot on there. Nice to hear that those 12 crisps are safe from being crushed. Gives Airbag a new definition I suppose.somone-else wrote:Have you just brought a packet of Walkers crinkle cut crisps?

Also likely something to do with protective atmosphere, usually not air in the bags, usually some kind of gas with preservative qualities.
Seemingly according to an article I read somewhere ( I forget where), the amount of crisps has either stayed constant or increased, however the bags physical size has increased way more by percentage, thus we think we are getting less, when in fact portion sizes keep on rising.
Even restaurant meals have seemingly been increasing in size incrementally for years on end, to the point that some are 1.5 to 2 times bigger than they were a few years ago.

Re: Fresh Air flavour seems popular
It's the price which makes me refuse to buy coke or crisps the manufacturing price is about 5p and I'm not keen on giving money to over paid execs and shareholders.
People should sell crisps not the big issue really - they'll be off the streets and in pent houses in no time.

Re: Fresh Air flavour seems popular
I rarely eat crisps any more, I have a few once a week at my pottery class - we gave up tea & biscuits years ago and now it's always vino and (usually) twiglets but sometimes crisps.
We're all supposed to take a pack in now and again, or just chip in some cash (much easier).
A few months back I needed some baccy on the way and so I stopped at Tesco and bought vino and crisps as well, those jumbo bags are a ridiculous price - they seemed to start at about £3.00 and they are all poncy flavours, like Rosemary and Sea Salt or Bergamot and Banana.
What ever happened to cheese and onion?

One day it will all be firewood.

I made that one up, couldn't remember any other flavours. I think I'm still traumatised by the prices, maybe I should sue.scot-canuck wrote:what Tesco do you shop at Ayjay....seems to have some odd items ordered in......bergamot and banana...now you have said it, some idiot will manufacture them....
