Kaspersky anti virus program
Hi everyone,
I am quite an experienced computer user and would like to know if anyone is having the same problem Kaspersky anti virus. When I first started a few years ago I used Norton but found this very intrusive. I then changed to Zone Alarm. This was great. I then purchased a device called a Yoggie which was absolutely brilliant. But unfortunately the company went bust. I then purchased a new computer which was supplied with a years free subscription to Kaspersky. I am still using this. My problem is that my computer takes about 10 minutes to boot up. Has anyone else had this problem with Kaspersky. I am using Windows 7 Home Premium. I have a 4gb ram. 1 tb hard drive and a fast processor.

Re: Kaspersky anti virus program
Hi Delbeb,
on your start menu, in the little box type "MSCONFIG" (without the quotation marks)
In here you will see a load of gobbeldygook, on the far right tab, "Startup" you will see everything that loads up when your PC does.
In here you quite often find programs that you overlook when installing. Little checkboxes on the left hand side will more than likely all be checked.
Populate the list by name and from there, disable processes which are not essential to your computer running.
On to the more complicated one now, is the services tab.
As soon as you get on to this tab, click the "hide all microsoft services" button in the bottom left. This will stop you from nuking your PC by pressing the wrong button!
This area is as said before, more complicated. You have to be very critical and certain that you wish to disable services, as these will have programs dependant on them.
After this has all been done, download piriform ccleaner (http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner)
Use that to analyze your PC, and then run the cleaner. Will take a little while on first run, but again, instant, notable differences.
Skip down a tab on the left and side and analyze your registries, this will more than likely take a while due to the amount of software that has been installed over time.
When it asks, backup registries to my documents (just in case it goes wrong, never has for me in 4 years of use) then analyze and run registry cleaner. It will ask you to press either for just 1 or all, select all.
If this has not made a significant improvement to your computer, I will eat somebodies hat and first born child, and then suggest you invest in a samsung 830 128gb SSD :)

It is usually the first thing to load once windows is running. I use Win 7 Pro.

Re: Kaspersky anti virus program
I had a similar problem with it on a mates netbook, it turns out it was just riddled with viruses which were attempting to crash KAV, the battle was making it take forever to start up.
I've never had speed problems I use KAV 6 for workstations on all of my pcs because I get it free through the university.
