Tiliing around a bath / shower combo

Hi,
I know there are countless posts about tiling in shower enclosures and stuff, but if you read enough of them, you end up getting confused!
I have a plastered wall along the length of the bath, and a stud wall at the end of the bath where the shower hangs. I'm about to do up the bathroom which includes pulling down and re-doing the stud wall.
1) Should I use normal plasterboard, moisture resistant board, or aquapanel?
2) With any of the above, should you skim plaster it first? If so, don't you then need to seal it? Would I need to seal the existing plastered wall anyway, once all the old tiles are off?
3) I'll be aiming to tank both walls, correct?
Any help you can give me would be great. I've only ever used normal plasterboard and skimmed and then tiled onto that, and that always worked fine. But now I want to do it properly.
