MP expenses cheat gets away scott-free

The MP that fiddled the highest amount on expenses, Margaret Moran, 57, will not go to jail.
A judge has agreed that she was “mentally unfit to stand trial”. Moran has got a “two-year supervision and treatment order.” at even more cost to taxpayers!
So much for “tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime”, especially when it is in Whitehall!
This greedy bitch defrauded the hard-working British taxpayers out of £53,000 by forging invoices and claiming for bogus repairs on her second homes. But hey, getting caught has resulted in a mental illness and she can get away scott-free. Even worse, she even gets to keep the money she swindled because “she has not been found guilty of any crime.” Does this mean anyone can go and rob a bank, have a breakdown and get to keep the money?
To add insult to injury for British taxpayers Moran is even getting a £26,852 in a resettlement grant given to MPs when they leave parliament. This for a bitch that still has over £1million property portfolio with homes in Westminster, Luton and Southampton.
Never mind, “we are all in it together” - aren’t we?

That's what we're all supposed to believe

I can understand the papers etc mudslinging at the politicians and she has done wrong. But, in my opinion, virtually everyone fiddles/steals but obviously not on that scale. It could be buying cheap fags from the pub, a ream of paper from work, the wife's fuel receipts added into the hubby's tax return, nicking an Argos pen - its all small stuff but nationally its adds up. I know I am probably tarring everyone one with the same exceptionally low morals.
If I was an MP and was told I could fiddle the system and probably get away with it, it's tempting...

There is one hell of a world of difference "nicking a pen from Argos" and fraudulantly claiming £53,000 for repairs/work not even carried out to a second home.
It wasnt "within the rules", it wasnt legal and she has got away with it - not just no jail time, but is keeping the cash she defrauded too.
This was the equivallent of credit card fraud not petty pilfering.
I bet if you did that, even if you had a mental breakdown, you would still be prosecuted and would be made to return the money as well as serve jail time.
So should Margaret Moran!

Have to agree with NW4U,Fiddling is only wrong when you get caught,I have worked for nearly 40 years one day i will sit and add up all the little perks i have had
MP's expenses annoying as it is just like immigration you cant blame anyone for taking whats put in front of them
It's the system that is put in place what is wrong,

You really have missed the point here!
Only wrong if you get caught? So MP's can steal our money, so long as we never find out, and that's OK?
Margaret Moran submitted
false invoices for work she never had done on her second and third homes.
In total she "claimed" £53,000 pounds from the British taxpayer.
She got caught.
She is not going to jail, she is not even being made to pay back the money she STOLE from all of us.
Because
"she is too ill to stand trial" Not cancer but a Mental "illness" no doubt brought on by getting caught being a fraudster.
Thsi isnt about paper clips or "little perks"
Asil Nadir (Polly Peck) went ot jail and so should Margaret Moran #jailmargaretmoran

The judge probably got half to let her go.
One law for them one for the citizens.
Cammaerooon and clugg have borrowed 7 billion on our behalf in 2 years, the interest is more than the total worth of all production in this country

You think thats bad?
This government (and the one before that) have given £8.57billion in overseas aid every year and MORE than the EU cost us (another issue!)
The aid budget is due to INCREASE to £12.6 billion a year by 2014, more than £12.1 million the UK spends on police forces!
Around 200,000 people in the UK are using foodbanks because they cannot afford to feed themselves, this money should be earmarked for use in this country.
