Concealing pipes and cables.
Hi folks, first post for me. I'm just setting up as a full-time handyman with a van. Been at it part time for a few years mainly for family and friends but recently got made redundant so decided that this is what I'm going to do for a living. This is a job I did for a lass recently. There was a bunch of minging looking pipes and cables running along the wall and she was fed up looking at them and wanted them boxed in. The wall was cedar strip with horsehair and plaster so finding a decent fixing was a bit of a nightmare but it worked out ok in the end. Took 12 hours including painting the room, and £250 including materials about £70. Was I too cheap?

You did a great job of painting those women, not surprised it took 12 hours.
When I heard they'd discovered a cure for dyslexia it was like music to my arse!

Re: Concealing pipes and cables.
Looks fine to me. i would say £250 is too cheap, assuming it would have taken an experienced tradesman 12hrs the bill should have been £360 with materials on top of that. Always provide an estimate on materials but if it cost more than the estimate then that is what they pay. Good on you for setting up on your own but for god sake don't take on work you are not sure of, you are better off passing it up and keeping your reputation intact

Before I comment, is that plasterboard on the front with the writing on display??
How did you complete the external corners if it is plasterboard?
Is the boxing now part of the wall units or separate?
