Things that grow legs and walk.....

Post by scot-canuck »

So in the last 2 weeks, I've misplaced not one but 2 - 8"x6"x1" plastic boxes full of various electrical bits and bobs (20mm grommets, clips, fluoro starters etc) and can I remember the last place I saw them.....can I heck....Especially infuriating as I need a starter for the kitchen light as one has went on the blink and I know I have 10 odd in one of those boxes... ::b ::b ::b

Even worse is stuff that you have for ages never used
only to throw out only to need it a week later

Had a load of white plastic 15mm pipe clips
never used them never would [they were nasty cheap looking ]but ok for outside
had enough of them hanging round so binned them next week wife bought some rope lights for out side
and wanted them putting up only i needed some 15mm clips

All the best ghostrider

I collect things like a beaver and end up surrounded by a dam of things 'I might need'. I eventually sell/throw it all away and INSTANTLY need half the stuff I've chucked away.

Obviously you can't just buy one, so end up with 4 or 9 more after the job..........

For me it is pencils. I have about 30 spread across the garage, tool boxes, in the kitchen and anywhere else I may need them. Do you think I can find one when I need one...

Oh, and if I do find one it is blunt ::b

i am exactly the same problem
you need to find the equilibrium point in my case it wasn't the first or second box off 50 pencils it was the third box

yes there will be several pencils in every box and bag i have and all over the place but at 100 i was having to look for a pencil rather than just pick one up to save time

i have at times found at least one pencil in every pocket or ear and still pick up another

and tapes i have 8 identical yellow and black stanley 5m tapes one in the house and 5 in the shed
i can safely say at least one is always on the place they live
we are all ------------------still learning

I'm fairly organised but often forget what I've got (since joining this forum my collection of tools has increased ten-fold  ). I bought a selection of fuses that were on offer the other day - got home and put them in my 'electrical' drawer in the shed only to find I already had 4 packs. The strange thing is I never have a fuse 'go'........never!

Yes mine too. Your problems have really started when you search for them and later find they're on your head

my stuff sprouts legs and moves all the time,

half the time it's cause the missus has "tidied" it away... (i.e. rammed it in a draw full of other "tidied" items ::b )
other half it's cause i'm a messy pup

Mrs k_e threatens to tidy it for me if I won't do it..... :?

She's also a b*gg*r for 'picking things up after me' WHILE I'M FRIKKEN USING THEM! :cussing:

.....busy wiring some stuff up, puts screwdriver down to get a closer look. Go to pick screwdriver back up and it's GONE...... WTF???? "Oh, I put it in the drawer....." she says...... :angryfire: FFS  5 fcuking seconds it took her ::b

Can I add to this thread 'stuff that becomes invisible in full view' I can be looking straight at a tool and not see it for some reason. I was poncing around switching between drill bit and bit holder in my cordless (because I could not be arsed to get another cordless drill out) and I kept 'losing' the drill bit and then the bit holder as I switched between the two. Is this a mental defect?

And I too have a pencil black hole. I also buy loads of glasses from Poundland that are all over the place so I know where I can find another pair.
