Personalised number plates
Why do people spend good money on personalised number plates that are supposed to spell something, yet many of them are illegally spaced out or don’t even look like anything that is legible?
It really drives me mad that someone could be so stupid as to spend hundreds if not thousands of pounds on a number plate that spells something, or allegedly spells something.
I have a personalised plate on the van, not because I bought it but because Angie bought it me for a birthday present. If you think it’s hard work selling your vehicle and buying a new one wait till you get a personalised registration plate, you will then find that it’s twice as hard.
Here are a few examples from a recent auction on Bidspotter-
Or perhaps some examples from ebay-
This one is for sale for £29999.00
Or this one that apparently spells out MICH MICHAEL, MIKE, MICHELLE for £399
A fool and his money are soon parted

Re: Personalised number plates
i know someone who bought a car because the number plate had 3 letters from her name "mut"
2 things there it suggests dog
but also you dont buy a car from a garage except on its merit
its like buying a car because it has red seats regardless off condition

I love my plate.......all about me lol.
I will let it go with the Jag when I change it for me new one in a few months time. Can't be bothered with taking it off and putting it back on another car.

Re: Personalised number plates
Back in '98 a mate of mine bought a Moto Guzzi bike and went to the DVLA auction to buy his plate.
He came back and had got S10MON for £350. When I pointed out that didn't spell SIMON he said it was near enough and S1MON went for 2.5k! He could afford it but thought it was a waste of money.
He was really not pleased about 5 years later when he saw S1MON advertised for 150K

I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work

Re: Personalised number plates
We were in a car park and there was an old Fiesta with a personal number plate with BEC and 7's in it. There was an explanation, in small writing on the plate under it, which clarified it to naive innocents like us what it meant. Apparently is was some crap about Beckham's shirt number and Posh's weight or shoe size or some sort of claptrap like that.
What a load of b*llocks

With reference to original post, number 13 on the auction site may have tempted me to buy it for my wife's Birthday......

Re: Personalised number plates
Hi there, I onced noticed a motorbike at the side of the road and it had a series of letters along the bottom of the plate like one long word but on closer inspection it read 'woshyaf*cker' I did have a chuckle!
