Installing toilet directly on top of porcelain floor tile

Post by gocsan »

Morning all

I'm about to tile my bathroom floor with porcelain tile with the toilet removed beforehand. Just thinking ahead, do I need to put some kind of putty, or any rubber material in between the tiled floor and the toilet to act as a cushion? Or can I just put the toilet directly on top of the tile and screw it on?

Many thanks

You could bed it down on a bead of silicone. Hope you've got the necessary to drill through the porcelain tiles...

Just sit the krapper on the floor and mark out for screw positions. Armeg porcelain drill bits are extremely good and will only set you back about £25 for an 8mm bit.

Don't sit the krapper on silicone as you will be left with a right pig of a job should you need to move it out because of a leak etc etc.

You want stainless steel or brass screws.
