The Greatest SCAM Yet

Now, I know times are hard, but I think a few companies are pushing the boundaries in an effort to deprive you of your hard earned cash.
I went shopping at Tesco today, and after I had used the self-service (to the annoyance of most in que as they thought I had no place using self-service with a big trolly - well, more tills should have been opened), I paid my shopping bill and after the receipt, another ''receipt'' followed. I was intending to bin it without looking at it when I got out of shop as I thought it was something like ...'get £10 off your next shopping if you spend £80'. Or something in that line.
BUT WAIT FOR IT:
It read in these lines: After checking your shopping bill, it has been realised that had you shopped somewhere else, you would have saved £1.20. As a result, we are giving you a £1.20 voucher towards your next shopping'.
Really? Why not just deduct the amount from the bill? I think this is just a SCAM to get you back. How many other stores are going down this route

Sainsburys operate a similar "Scam" giving away vouchers like confetti at a wedding. There's also the "Have you got a nectar card? and Do you collect school vouchers?
"Do I look like I go to school?" usually shuts them up.

I shop at lidl and Aldi....find them cheaper....and no scams !

It's an indictment of modern society that such schemes - sorry, such scams - are actually believed by the majority of customers. Then again we have a society that is ready to vote Labour back into office - says it all really.

I do not agree.
Like most folk, we always shop at the same supermarket (Just happens it is Tesco) so if they want to give us £1.20 off of our next shop, I am not going to say no.
I would suggest if anything folk should watch for the packaging. As it happens I have just come back from Tesco, 4 red apples in a tray thing, covered in almost shrink wrap were £2, buy 2 and it will be £3 for them both, sitting on the shelf below, bag of green apples £1.70

err... that £1.20 redemption voucher just covers the increased cost of the goods you're in there to purchase AT A HIGHER PRICE ANYWAY
You gain NOTHING!
Fruit/veg comparison is difficult at the best of times in supermarkets. Most products can be compared on the price-per-100g (or whatever) to get an idea of value for money. Fruit/veg however is sold as individual items/packaged-in-quantity and they don't (in many cases) offer the price-per-100g so direct comparison can't be made.

So what would you rather I do, drive to where ever, which is further away just to save £1.20 or take the voucher?
There is one thing, I have no idea where it is "compared to" that makes it cheaper.

Tesco do. (Well this one does)
On a lighter note. I was in a Tesco small store a month or so ago, buying something for lunch. I went to the self service check out, but could not find a "fruit / apple" icon, the assistant came over and said "The fruit has its own bar code sticker" sure enough, sitting on the opposite side of the "granny smith" stick on label was a bar code label, now that's got to be a waste, a sticker on every apple.

lidl aldi and netto are the best value like for like
asda tesco sainsburys waitrose in that order
i use my supermarket it gives you a running total off the cheapest home delivery prices it also tells you the selling price for any item over the the last year so claims off buy one get one frees can be checked
funny enough its a free service as they get commission from the supermarkets aaaannnndddd
at the minuet if you do on line shopping and i recommend you to my supermarket you will get £10 off your shopping and i will get £10 off a shop

Like almost everyone I HATE supermarket shopping BUT we recently had Tesco start a home delivery service. Since it normally costs us £14 in fuel and three hours+ of valuable 'doing nothing' time
the £3 they charge for delivery is what I call a REAL saving. If we are careful we can cut our town shopping/visiting journeys to under one in every three months!

I'd take up BG's offer above, you can save a tender and maybe your shopping is will be cheaper
