I'm wondereding about getting one of these, could do with a sliding mitre saw as my existing nonsliding one, whilst pretty good won't be any good when I come to do some decking in the coming months as it doesn't have a deep enough cut.

Anyone any experience with these Lidls tools?

Also looking at the SDS drill for £40...

you cant go wrong really if it packs up within 3 years you get your money back
i would recommend lidle stuff for diy you dont often get failures reported on here and theres plenty buying there stuff

the only thing i have had problems with is the screws are soft and chew easily but that was 10 years ago

Hmm, might have to check it out on monday, would be very handy for cutting decking boards! Might invest in a set of the cutting blades too... sure they won't last forever but would be good to have backups!

I've had LIDL 190mm saw blades in the past and TBH for general carpentry work I couldn't fault them, certainly not at the price

Well, yesterday morning I went along at opening time and picked up the sliding mitre saw, 2 packs of spare blades (I have another non-sliding mitre saw that they will fit), a nice garden broom, a set of spirit levels and some velcro-backed sanding pads that will fit my Bosch multi-tool.

Had a bit of a tinker with the mitre saw last night and have to say it seems to be a decent bit of kit, nice and sturdy and should suit my needs perfectly as I'm just a diyer!!

check the the pads as the velcro can vary
i assumed velcro was velcro but the lidl pads i bought probably 10 years ago for the same delta sander in the advert stick to the sander but not bosch base

That's a good point...mind you they were only £2.99 for 30 so no great loss if they don't stick to it. Also, somewhere I have another sander they might stick to..though god knows where!!! :)

Just to say I finally got around to using the mitre saw yesterday and it did a grand job of cutting some board.

The board was too wide so I have to cut and flip and it seems that the blade was pretty straight and square and the cuts went nicely.

when you are flipping boards try and leave 50% for the second cut to leave the maximum strength
also if you are cutting faced boards rotate rather than flip so all the chipping is on one face

Bought this saw the other week.....not used yet.....looks good

Thanks for the tip re leaving 50% I hadn't thought of that!

Thinking about it I did rotate the boards rather than flipping for that very reason as the blade in the saw is a fairly rough one so it did splinter the wood a little on the edges which I wanted to keep to one side.
