Credit Card Refunds

Post by kintangoman »

Can someone please let me know what is the minimum amount you have to spend on a Credit Card before the issuing provider refunds you the money spent?

I ordered the In-Car On Board Camera as far back as the 11th of April. After sending them complaints about not receiving the product, they sent me a mail saying I should receive it in 7-10 days. Well, it's over 20 days now and I have not received it. I have in the past FOUR days sent them two emails but they are now not responding to my mails?

I think the total I paid came to either £78 or £87. I am thinking, is it time to phone the card issuer and ask for my money back?

Ring them and ask!!!!

Don't leave it too late - tell them you have made efforts to contact them and that they refused to cancel the initial order in line with your statutory rights.

Do it now.

Billy G, the original order was received. As a matter of fact, it is still lying on-top of my wardrobe unopened and in exactly the state it was in when delivered. It was delivered over two weeks ago. My intentions were to return it once the one I really wanted arrive. It hasn't arrived???

:dunno: If it's unopened.........how do you know it's not what you ordered????

Is this the dashboard camera??

EDIT...I think the minimum spend to get the Credit card involved is £100... but the distance selling regs give you 7 days AFTER recieving the goods to reject them...

Did they not ask you to send the first one back before sending out the replacement...they could be waiting for it before taking the next step?

No. They had mailed me that they will not cancel the first order, so they can not be waiting for a return.

wine~o, it is the in-car-camera indeed. They are taking so long I am beginning to loose interest. The first one I ordered is the basic £40 one, but I actually wanted the next one up. Had bought the wrong one as I was so excited to get one I lost all concentration of my senses. I am angry, really angry. When I tried tracking the order as their invoice suggested, it says product was shipped/mailed on the 15th of April. Has the post office staff decided to use my ''camera''? I did watch Secrets of the Missing Mail or whatever the programme was called.

In the response I got from them by mail, they wanted to know if the address they have for me is the right one? I said yes, and made them aware that it has to be right as I had received the first order. ::b ::b ::b

It always used to be on transactions of over £100 - a few years ago - so whether that still applies I'm not sure.

I tried for it a couple of years ago (£109.00 purchase) and it wasn't an easy task (they were very reluctant to start the process) but I finally got the problem sorted anyway so didn't have to go through with it.
One day it will all be firewood.

I think it still is on transactions of over £100 Kintango, so as the item cost less than this, I'm afraid it's your problem now.
Could be as suggested, the company are waiting on the return of the wrong item.

OK, so wine~o, ajay and Joiner all say I have to have spent at least £100 to get any help from card provider, so I think I've lost out there?

Joiner, they should not be waiting for any return. Their email had informed me that the order will not be cancelled. I had asked for the first order to be cancelled so I can place the second order or pay the difference. They said NO, so I just went ahead and made the second order. It's a good thing I did not return the first order as chances are I would never have gotten the money returned anyway. I may just go ahead now and open the unopened first order.

I'll consider this a bad experience and avoid shopping on-line if I can help it :angryfire:

I don't see there being a limit to the value, or why there should be.

You need to call your credit card people - unless someone on here works at your bank and knows which card/account you have.

While people often give good, sound advice from experience, sometimes you need to speak to the people that can give you the official answer whom you have the agreement/contract with.

thnx someone-else, I may have no alternative but to use it now. If I ha taken the time to place the right order in the first place, I have to assume that I would have received it and have some lovely footage to show. Good example was VW driver darting in and out of all lanes. crazy.

I think I'll take BG's advice and phone my bank tomorrow. But I already know their answer. Just wait for the delivery :cb

Section 75 credit card protection applies to single transactions of between £100 and £30,000.
See http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shoppi ... -purchases

For credit card transactions of less than £100 and debit card transactions, there is the possibility of 'chargeback'.
