WHAT IF. ......!!!!!

What if you were sat in your van, or walking the street, and someone walks up to you and says they're selling a very exciting new and special perfume at a give away price, they then push a piece of cloth towards your nose saying: ''here, smell it and see for yourself how brilliant the scent is?''

And you instinctively knock their hand away. They then claim to be injured and call the Old Bill saying you have attacked & injured them? You get taken down to the station and get told off. Is that fair?

Chances are the piece of cloth was laced with something to knock you out so they can rob you. Why should you not defend yourself?

A bit confused, did this actually happen or is it really a "what if" scenario?

You been having nightmares again Kintango? Try some diazepams about ten minutes before bedtime. You'll sleep like a log, but wake up feeling like you've had 20 pints the night before, but,,,,,, No nightmares whatsoever.

Self defence - without provocation they attacked me with a knife (wrapped in a cloth).

Serious advice: in a circumstance like this (or any other), don't say anything to the police without legal representation, - that may sound a bit wussy, but it could save you a lot of money and grief; they know all the tricks to make you say something to incriminate yourself.

Well, it did not really happen (As joiner pointed out, I need to see my GP, so I can get some seeping tablets)
A friend sent me a text message informing me of the 'SCAMM', telling me it has just happened to someone she knows. If you smell the cloth, you get knocked out and then 'cleaned out'. By the time you come around, they're long gone.

Talking of scams, my wife used to have a flat she was renting out. This Nigerian lady rented it and her 19yr old son applied for a £10,000 loan under my wife's name. Barclays Bank approved the loan. In the form, the bank included her D.O.B (saying it was to speed up things) and asked that the forms be signed and returned.
Luckily, I had asked her to forward her mails to my (ok, now our) address. When we got the mail, we contacted the police.
Their response: ''No crime has been committed, so we can't take any action against him''.
Really? What about the intent to obtain a loan fraudulently? Had he taken out the loan, my missus would've been put through HELL to prove that she was not the one who got the money.

What made me even mad was that the kid did not know my wife's DOB, but the bank provided that info. Had he received the mail, he would have even had more ammunition to carry out more scams using her name. ::b ::b ::b

Surely that would be "conspiracy to defraud " ? I know what I'd have done with the bloody tenants (and no I wouldn't be buying them a tent either)

I told her I couldn't cope with the stress and encouraged her to sell the flat.
She did and £70,000 of the funds was used to offset ''our'' mortgage.
So now, even if she decides to kick me out and claim the house, I'd not be pulling my hair out :huray:
