Hi. I'm tiling my bathroom and fitting a new bath is it ok to tile down below the top of the bath and then fit the bath against the tiles and get a good seal. The bath will be encased by three walls. If I fit the bath first then tile down to the top of the bath, when the sides are tiled It will trap the bath panel.By the way one end wall will be stud work to suit bath size.Hope someone can help.

Tiling first is the continental way and not as good as the English way.

Fit bath first, tile second.

The English way may be best but what about being able to remove the bath panel.

the bath panel is shaped to the bath with small returns at the ends and cant be cut if I fit the bath then tile the tiles will carry on down in front of the bath and trap the bath panel which isn't a good idea.

When you tile you return the tile under the bath mate
Never really had a problem with cutting panels down except if they are the really cheap plastic panel, but even them you can get away with it,
If you don't want to do that ,then really you have answered your own question tile first and good luck

They all have returns it is what gives the rigidity to the panels.

The difference between a craftsman and many DIYers is that we know how to cut them and reinforce them again.

If you don't want to take the advice from craftsmen then stick with your DIY bodge and don't ask in future.

I will leave you with a little clue. A bath panel is a generic size for that bath. They do not make the same panel for the bath in 12 different sizes, just in case buyer 1 uses 6mm tiles, buyer 2 uses 9mm tiles, buyer 3 hasn't got any tiles etc etc. They are therefore made to be cut to fit. Many floors are not level and unless you are a enough of a bodger to fit the bath in p155ed to suit the panel, it will also need to be cut in height.
