size of tile uneven wall

hi, i looking to have a small room tiled, the walls in the room are a bit uneven and just wonderd if a tile 20x20 in just a grid effect maybe with a border, would it look ok, i was going to have brick effect but have been told i would see the uneveness more, also is it best to have a small tile in a small room or go for a bigger tile the room is only 4ftx3ft
