Screwfix website
I often order online from screwfix and collect at my local branch.
Today I tried ordering a few bits and their website was as slow as anything. I only ordered 3 items for collection and noticed that one of them was next day collection so I un-ticked that item and checked out. The website then went really slow and after a while I got a confirmation that my order was ready to be delivered
As I needed the items immediately I telephoned Screwfix customer service, who said that there was no way to cancel the order and that I would have to have it delivered- but refuse delivery, and they would issue a full refund
Obviously a wasted phone call there then
Whilst in the screwfix trade counter a guy behind the counter was not too happy as his terminal went offline during serving a customer. I asked him if it was linked to the screwfix website and he said it was so I told him what happened to me.
Seems very wasteful that when a computer error causes a mistake on a web form you cannot telephone them to cancel the order

Re: Screwfix website
We are talking about a company here that produces two catalouges.
One for the trade (without VAT) and
One for the public (with VAT).
What a waste of funds? Why not just print the one

Re: Screwfix website
Yes you have to enter payment details to reserve AND bring the card to the trade counter, yet you don't need the card when you have something delivered....
Had this out with Sfix before, they are as much use as a half wrung out cloth.....absolutely and totally utterly useless.....the excuse "automated warehouse and already picked" - in 45 seconds or less...don't think so....

CR, I appreciate what you are saying.
But how many items do you have different prices on?

Re: Screwfix website
In terms of electricfix - a LOT (I get a decent discount on sockets etc), plus a wider range on next day that joe public would have no interest or clue what its for...not to mention a targeted set of emails etc

Re: Screwfix website
You get the discount when your Trade Account deatails are entered, not because it is displayed at a cheaper price in the catalog?

So when you go to their site on-line to shop, is there a section that says Electrifix Registered members only, so members of the general public can't access?
Well
An Electrifix or Plumbfix catalog is of no importance as far as I am concerned.
To the best of my knowledge, the prices in the Screwfix and Plumbfix catalogs are the same (most - over 90%). The main diference is that one displays VAT but the other doesn't. So most of the time, you are paying the same price as Joe Public.
Are you going to go through the catalog and try and work out what you can get for cheaper than someone using the screwfix catalog?
If you need a product or fitting, you decide which merchant you think offers a good price or and service. You will not spend time checking if Screwfix prices are more than Electrifix prices.
If there are any discounts to be had, this should automatically be displayed once the attending staff enters your customer/business ID in the system

Re: Screwfix website
For example MK DP 2 gang switched sockets, Joe public price - £3.93 each inc VAT, I pay £3.53 inc VAT
Not a massive saving but enough to make it worth my while

Re: Screwfix website
is the product range better on Electricfix? just idle curiosity - I wondered if they sell the MK decorative sockets? I wanted to install one of the Edge shaver points ages ago but the prices were unreal, £70-£80 each! but I could only find a couple of websites selling them and the local electrical factors were useless.

Re: Screwfix website
No not to that degree sadly. Its more stuff like earth rods etc that get highlighted, I don't have a print copy to hand. Local Sfix has a plumbfix/electricfix only counter....ace....normal counter is usually stapped out with pensioners, women on the phone to their man asking what it is he wanted, people doing renovations and no idea what they want.
I see what you mean about the edge stuff....flipping heck....

Re: Screwfix website
Also I can sign into electricfix on the screwfix site and choose to see prices inc vat or ex vat, discount is displayed automatically once I'm signed in
