Since I plan on doing some DIY at home I thought I would post this question here as it is a DIY forum

Anybody reccomend a decent sander on a cost to performance ratio for stripping paint on skirting on doorframes?

Also which type is best? the mouse type or triangular one for this sort of work?

And because it is DIY I'm not interested in festool or makita types

how much paint do you want to take off

all of it or just the high spots

I have a Dewalt DW411 its about £70 dont buy the ferm equivalent you cant get sandpaper in the thing

but in all honesty I reckon I am just as quick doing it manually as using the machine

I'm tempted to say, the real thing is better than a hand job every time!!...

you will be there for hours stripping paint with a sander.

imo you have two options

1. burn/nitromors the paint off

2. just replace the skirtings/archs, it will be much quicker and they will look better (unless you have something special on)

when looking at sanders remember to check how much the pads cost. I had a nice little B&D one but the pads were really dear. My DW411 1/4 sheet jobbie I can put standard 115mm sandpaper in it

I have actually got most of it off with a heat gun. But there are still bits left on.

Also on some doors the gloss undercoat is extremly difficullt to remove and therefore a sander would be ideal. (mainly for the doors.

I was only looking for some advice on one. Didn't expect to actually get one too!
