Thinking of tiling on wet UFH for projected house, saw these, not cheap ( there are some similar at 1/3 the price) but I like the pattern:

Finalised the land then?
Tiles are a funny thing, just like all flooring. I'd have to see it before I can buy anything!

My offer for the land is accepted, but still waiting for council to reply to my proposal. True, I want to see tiles before I buy. I despair about not being able to buy British made stuff, I'm sure it is possible still but we just don't have the facilities and skills in many industries. BnQ had tiles at £10 a square metre, but only in black cream or white, I don't want a chessboard floor! I'll contact TilesUK to see if they'll send a sample, they must get a tile broken now and then.
I have to keep a tight rein on the budget, unlike those on Grand Designs who have credit cards to max out, or a job to work at to cope with cost over-runs.

He is well up on tiles and offered to send out samples to people. He done some discount for UHM too, the web guy......arse, what's his name!!!!

be wary of B&Q tiles. They do stock some utter 5hit. They look the same as available elsewhere but at less than half the cost.
If you want timber effect tiles then try getting into a tile shop owned by muslims. They normally have a massive range of them and include patterned ones that will make up a mock marketry floor with border.

In what ways are they defective? Soft, brittle, easy to chip/scratch, likely to fade, distorted, irregular sizes? Is price the only proof of quality?

All most all tile web retailers will send out samples, sometimes FOC, or £1 or £2
