External Doorway Threshold (waterproofing)

Hi,
I have an external garage door (regular man sized, not the sliding front car sized variety!) that I need to replace. Unfortunately the external floor height is higher than the internal ) both concrete, therefore incoming rain/water is a problem.
A passing tradesman said a crown step is needed. Google produced no answers, except the possibility of it being known as a crown threshold instead.
Obviously there needs to be an elevation in the threshold, but I don't know what this should be made out of (wood, concrete(?), bought special product). The increased height would stop water coming over, but how do you create the seal to stop water going under the new "step"?
Any help would be much appreciated.

You would have to fit a weather bar to the concrete below the door to seal between the two.
Many various company's manufacture suitable products for this application my favorites being Wintun or Exitex.
different types are available depending on whether the door opens in/out or if you need a low sill type for easy wheelchair access over the top of etc.
check with your local ironmonger for these products or im sure you will easily pick one up online.
They are easy enough to fit and will require cutting the door a certain height above it.

Excellent thanks for your help. Weather bar is what I should have been looking for! More questions might be asked later though. I can't remember (and seen as its late and the weather is terrible, I'm not checking yet!) but I think there is a 3cm+ drop from outside to the actual threshold. So presumably I'll need to raise the inside so the bar can be fitted. Hopefully my oldskool diagrams will be rendered okay! :D
