I seriously feel for all you plumbers out there....being insane enough to grapple with pipework, clogged bogs etc all day long...I think I'd be committed by this time.....Plumbing is something I'd like to be good at, but drives me MENTAL.
For your amusement and to release my stress
I have come to the conclusion that I hate cuprofit....especially when trying to use compression fittings further down the line....especially the requirement for a "demounting tool"....
Idiot kitchen fitters plumber overtightened EVERYTHING, meaning when I put a compression Tee in place of the washing machine tap (compression fit also) (to take a feed for a garden tap - stopcock, drain cock, copper pipe throughout and checkvalve tap) and tried to tighten it up...it leaked, PTFE...still a minor weep, tried nipping it up...and the compression nut...split in half....
As I don't have an olive puller ended up having to saw off the compression olive, which after it finally decided to let go of the pipe.....was so damned tight it had crushed the pipe underneath, meaning it wouldn't seal, and I couldn't demount the cuprofit tee above (no demount tool) to replace the short length of pipe....so to get water back on...had to disconnect everything back to the service isolation valve, and temp fit a speedfit tee (that was to supply the pipework for the garden tap) to feed the washing machine and the cold tap.
So its off to toolstation/screwfix again for another couple of speedfit tee's, to replace the cuprofit (I am not shelling out for a demounting tool...and cuprofits all too easy rotation annoys me....I also like being able to twist locking nut, push down locking ring and pull pipe free with speedfit)
I seriously am considering shelling out for a propane /mapp torch (few bits on the car that might come off easier after exposure to a mapp flame) and just soldering stuff in future for things that wouldn't look "good" with speedfit.
So 3 hours essentially wasted, one hand sliced open, and one house with BLUE air....

Wonder how many times I've told you lot to use a jointing compound on the olive, it prevents all these problems, even when re-using them.
Good post though

Re: Cuprofit / Plumbing generally!!
Was in next town over today, wasn't planning on going to dundee, so nipped into plumb center....£3+ each for a pair of 15mm speedfit equal tees...just got home and realised just how much I got done....£1.82 each in screwfix or 5 for £8.74....worst of all...going to dundee tomorrow....
Well one place crossed off the list....rip off merchants...

Re: Cuprofit / Plumbing generally!!
Basic plumbing I find fairly easy...provided I avoid plastic, push fit shite...copper every time for me....
